Old plastic toys, including lego, dinosaur figurines and dolls, can contain dangerous levels of toxic chemicals, according to the first study of its kind. Out of a sample of trinkets found in homes, nurseries, schools and charity shops, more than 10 per cent contained high levels of hazardous elements that can be toxic at low amounts and would not be approved for sale today, a study found. Children are thought to be more at risk of poisoning from hazardous elements as their organs are still developing and they are more likely to put non-edible objects in their mouths. Lead author Dr Andrew Turner from the University of Plymouth, said: 'Second-hand toys are an attractive option to families because they can be inherited directly from friends or relatives or obtained cheaply and readily from charity stores, flea markets and the internet. Since toys must comply with the Toy Safety Directive, which includes safe hazardous element levels, to be sold in the EU. There is no regulation regarding the recycling or re-sale of old toys.

Jackson turned four years old last month! Creating a fun table spread is always one of my favorite things to do when throwing a birthday party, so I was really excited to work with our dino theme. Jackson and I decided that greenery was essential to the creation of our dino habitat, so we went to the store and picked out some ferns and other houseplants that looked like mini-trees to use in our backdrop. Then we got creative with our dino treats.
The label on the box declares: "A Strange Change Toy featuring The Lost World," suggesting that perhaps this was the first of a proposed series. The "Lost World" was the only scenario produced with this toy before it was discontinued. To reconstitute a figure, one would first pre-heat the "capsule" on the side of the machine, then toss it into the heating chamber, and close the door. Over the course of a few minutes, the plastic would soften enough for the original shape of the figure to reassert itself, and it would slowly open up into that shape. Tongs were provided for removing the still-hot figure.
